Phone System installation process
![]()
The first step is the installation of the the system and preparation for the keysets. This involves wiring, jacks, and
connections to the CO telephone lines. This part of the project should be performed by us, (we have encountered several
projects where a qualified electrician has installed the cabling and has not performed this portion properly). If however
the wiring is already correctly in place, the actual installation of the system and connections to the CO telephone lines
should be completed much more quickly.
The second step is the programming. Depending on your system, this can be a lengthy task. The more keysest and features you have, the longer this step will take. Setting up a phone system with Voice Mail, Automated Attendant, Door Phones, Music On Hold, Least Cost Routing, Automatic Call Routing, and so forth can take several days.
Steps to speed-up the installation process

These are some steps you can folow to make the job easier for the installer. With a little preparation, the job will be completed
faster and less expensive. Please read the list of things to do prior to your installation date.
Have a simple blueprint of your facility showing each telephone location and the person's name.
Provide a separate list with the correct spelling of each person's first and last names, type of keyset, and extension number.
Determine whether a specific person will answer the phone or if you will have an Automated Attendant. For most companies we recommend assigning one person to answer the phones with an Automated Attendant as a backup.
You will need to determine which phones are not going to ring on incoming calls. Please be sure to notify the installer.
Verify that the location where the telephone system will be installed is clear and avialable for the phone system to be mounted on the wall.
The CO phone lines that come into the building from your phone service provider will need to be avaialable for use.
If your CO phone lines come into a seperate room in the building, as in a building with multiple offices, you will need to ensure that you have the phone room key available on the day of the installation.
